IV Therapy in Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottsdale began as an Akimel O’odham village called Vaṣai S-vaṣonĭ, and some O’odham families still live here. In 1888 the Army chaplain Winfield Scott and his wife, Helen, bought 640 acres where Old Town now stands, at $3.50 an acre. A neighbor, Albert G. Utley, filed plans for a town called Orangedale, but when the Arizona Republican mistakenly printed the name as Scottsdale, the publicity persuaded Utley to change his filing. The first schoolhouse opened in 1896 and a general store with the first post office in 1897; 1909 brought the region’s first resort, the Ingleside Inn, the Little Red Schoolhouse and Cavalliere’s blacksmith shop, still in business. New dams on the Salt River fed a farming boom, cotton flourished during World War I, and the town incorporated in 1951 with about 2,000 people. Today some 241,000 live in “The West’s Most Western Town.”
