Mobile IV Therapy in Tempe, Arizona

Before it was a college town, Tempe was a place to get across a river. In 1870 Charles Trumbull Hayden claimed land on the south bank of the Salt River. A cable ferry, a flour mill and a general store followed; people called the settlement Hayden’s Ferry, and the mill is why the main street is Mill Avenue. Darrell Duppa thought the valley under the butte looked like the Vale of Tempe in Greece, and that name was adopted in 1879. A teachers’ school followed in 1885 and opened to 33 students the next February; it is now Arizona State University, with more than 50,000 students on its Tempe campus. The first Mill Avenue bridge opened in 1931, and in 1999 the riverbed beneath it was filled to make Tempe Town Lake. Getting an IV here takes no crossing at all: the nurse comes to you.

Mill Avenue and downtown

Hotels, apartments and short stays. The blocks between the lake and the campus, under Hayden Butte, the hill most people here call “A” Mountain. Street parking here is metered, so send the nearest garage and your unit or room number.

ASU Gammage and the campus edge

Off-campus apartments and houses. Frank Lloyd Wright drew this 3,000-seat hall in the last two years of his life, and it was finished in September 1964. Around the campus we come to your apartment, house, hotel or office.

Kiwanis Park and south Tempe

Houses, townhomes and office parks. The park is 125 acres around a lake, in the part of the city where streets of houses and business parks take over. For an office, add the building name, the suite and the visitor entrance.

The Tempe calendar

  • Move-in weekend Mid-August First-year students move into the Tempe campus in the week before classes start. Families in town for it can book to their hotel or rental; add the room number.

  • Home game days Fall ASU’s football stadium opened in 1958 and sits right beside the butte. Pick a time well before kickoff or the following day, and tell us where the nurse can park.

  • Finals and commencement December, May Each semester closes with a week of finals, and commencement comes after it. For a graduation weekend, one person books and prepays one IV, and everyone else pays when the nurse arrives.

  • Tempe Festival of the Arts March, December Three days on Mill Avenue itself, twice a year. The festival is set up in the street, so give us a side-street or garage entrance.

  • Town Lake event days All year Tempe Beach Park, on the lake’s south shore, hosts festivals and concerts through the year. On those days, send the entrance that is open to cars.

In the summer heat The whole visit happens indoors, wherever you are staying or working. Nobody has to drive, look for parking or cross a lot in the afternoon sun; the nurse brings everything to your door.
