Mobile IV Therapy near Talking Stick, Scottsdale

Talking Stick takes its name from the calendar stick, the notched record the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Xalychidom Piipaash (Maricopa) kept of the years; each keeper carved his own symbols, and only he, or someone he taught, could read the history back by running his fingers along the notches. The land belongs to the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community, created by executive order of President Rutherford B. Hayes on June 14, 1879, after settlers upstream drew so much water from the Gila River that many O’odham families moved to the Salt River Valley. Today the Community covers about 53,600 acres, 19,000 of them kept as natural preserve, and borders Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe and Fountain Hills. Along the Loop 101 it runs the Talking Stick district, where Salt River Fields opened in 2011 as the first Major League Baseball spring-training complex on Native American land.
