Mobile IV Therapy in West Boise, Idaho
West Boise grew over the orchards of a streetcar town. Dr. Harlan P. Ustick, an eye, ear, nose and throat doctor who came to Boise in late 1892, was one of the investors who organized the Boise Valley Railway in September 1905 to run an interurban line west toward Nampa. He owned land out here, and in 1907 he platted a town beside the tracks. Within months the Idaho Statesman reported it was “growing like a weed”: Ustick soon had a bank, a mercantile, a church, a school, vinegar and cider works, a women’s civic club called the Apple Blossoms, and acres of orchards. Streetcar service ended in 1928, and the automobile slowly worked against the little town; Boise annexed it in 1995. The First Bank of Ustick building still stands at Ustick Road and Mumbarto Avenue, and the old Ustick School is now a private home.
