Mobile IV Therapy in Star, Idaho
Star took its name from a schoolhouse door. Ben F. Swalley drove his ox team onto 300 acres along the Boise River in 1863, and more settlers followed him to the fertile bottomland between today’s Eagle and Middleton. When they finished the schoolhouse in the 1870s, one of the men sawed out a star and nailed it to the front door, and travelers and miners watched for it to find a night’s lodging. A post office came by 1880 and the first hotel in 1888. The electric Interurban from Boise to Caldwell reached Star in 1907, and the town soon had five general stores, two hotels and the Farmers Bank. The trolley shut down in 1928, and a year later Star gave up its incorporation. Ada County re-established it as a city in December 1997, and it has grown from 1,795 people in 2000 to 11,117 in 2020.
