Mobile IV Therapy in Pacific Beach, San Diego

Long before it was “P.B.,” this was Kumeyaay land, with a large village called Hamo, or Jamo, on the banks of Rose Creek at the mouth of Rose Canyon. The modern town was laid out in the boom of 1886 to 1888, when O. S. Hubbell, by one account, cleared the grainfields, pitched a tent, mapped the lots and hired an auctioneer. A railway reached downtown in 1889 and pushed on to La Jolla in 1894; early landmarks included a race track and the short-lived San Diego College of Letters, and around 1900 lemon growing and packing ran the local economy. Crystal Pier opened in 1927, the population grew fivefold during World War II, and resorts such as the Bahia and the Catamaran followed in the 1950s. Since 1972 a 30-foot height limit has kept the coast low, which is why so much of the neighborhood still looks out at the water.
