Mobile IV Therapy in Southeast Boise, Idaho
Southeast Boise’s river valley was a lumber town before it was a suburb. Between 1904 and 1906 the Barber Lumber Company built a timber-crib dam on the Boise River about three miles east of the city as a mill pond, with a power plant that ran both the sawmill and a company town between the river and the foothills. Barberton, soon shortened to Barber, had a hotel, a general store, a school and rows of company houses. In 1913 the company merged with the Payette Lumber Company, and a year later a narrow-gauge railroad began hauling logs down from Centerville. The Depression closed the mill in 1934, Boise Cascade bought the site, and the Harris family later turned the valley into homes; Harris Ranch’s first subdivisions came in the early 1990s. Ada County bought the dam in 1977, and it joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
