Mobile IV Therapy in Normal Heights, San Diego
Normal Heights takes its name from the State Normal School, the teachers college founded in 1899 in neighboring University Heights that grew into San Diego State University. In January 1906 there was one building on this mesa; by December, after a syndicate led by D. C. Collier and George M. Hawley filed the subdivision map, there were 43. Neighbors organized the Normal Heights Improvement Association in 1911, a trolley barn went up in 1913, and in 1915 the San Diego Electric Railway set up its Adams Avenue operating division. Shops filled Adams Avenue through the 1920s, and in 1925 the community joined the City of San Diego. In June 1985 a wildfire destroyed 69 homes here, and the neighborhood went on to be named a finalist for the All-America City award. The first Adams Avenue Street Fair followed in 1986, and it still fills the avenue in late September.
