Mobile IV Therapy in Kensington, San Diego
Kensington sits on the mesa above Mission Valley, bounded by Interstate 15, Interstate 8, Fairmount Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard. Its story starts on April 9, 1910, when a map was filed for Kensington Park on former Rancho Mission land that two sisters, Abby Hitchcock and Mary Gleason, had inherited. Promoter William Douglas opened lot sales on November 25, 1910, and the owners talked the San Diego Electric Railway into running its Adams Avenue trolley across a wooden trestle over Ward Canyon in time for the opening. The first houses were all Craftsman. In 1913 a group of former Santa Fe Railway executives led by G. Aubrey Davidson bought in, redrew the map and added Kensington Manor, and Kensington Heights followed. Streetcars served the neighborhood until 1949, and in 1952 it joined the City of San Diego, keeping the small-town feel of its Memorial Day parade and street parties.
