Mobile IV Therapy in Livermore, California
Livermore is named for Robert Livermore, a British merchant sailor who came ashore at Monterey and in 1839 received the 48,000-acre Rancho Las Positas with José Noriega. Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone villages had stood by the valley’s creeks long before. After the Gold Rush his ranch became a stop for travelers heading over Altamont Pass, and the area became known as Livermore’s Valley. The first settlement, Laddsville, grew up around a hotel in the 1860s. In 1869 William Mendenhall set aside 100 acres for a townsite beside the railroad and named it for his late friend; Laddsville merged in after an 1871 fire, and the city incorporated on April 1, 1876. Wente, Concannon and Cresta Blanca all planted vines in the 1880s. About 88,000 people live here now, the most in the Tri-Valley, next to the national laboratory that gave the element livermorium its name.
