Mobile IV Therapy in Fischer, Nampa, Idaho
Fischer is a railroad-map name on the north side of Nampa, about three miles from downtown at 2,450 feet, with Caldwell five miles to the northwest. The rails explain it. In the early 1880s the Oregon Short Line built its route from Granger, Wyoming, to Huntington, Oregon, through here, and Alexander and Hannah Duffes, with their friend James McGee, formed the Nampa Land and Improvement Company to lay out a town. Duffes angled the downtown street grid to match the tracks, after a fatal crossing accident in a town he had platted near Toronto, and some early settlers called the place “New Jerusalem.” It grew from 15 homes to 50 in a year and incorporated in 1891. On August 7, 1924, the city bought the Miller property beside the drained Lake Ethel and named it Lakeview Park; a bandstand followed in 1928 and the pool in 1934.
