Mobile IV Therapy in Escondido, California
Escondido, Spanish for “hidden,” lies in a valley the Luiseño called Mixéelum Pompáwvo, with Kumeyaay villages in the San Pasqual Valley to the east. Most of the city stands on Rancho Rincon del Diablo, “Devil’s Corner,” granted to Juan Bautista Alvarado in 1843, and in 1846 the Battle of San Pasqual was fought just southeast of here; Kit Carson Park carries the name of one of the Americans in it. In 1886 the Escondido Land and Town Company bought 12,814 acres for about $100,000, and in 1888 residents voted 64 to 12 to incorporate, making it one of the oldest cities in the county. Muscat grapes came first, then oranges, lemons, olives and walnuts after the dam at Lake Wohlford was built, and by the 1960s avocados led; vineyards and orchards still fill the San Pasqual Valley. About 151,000 people live here today.
