Mobile IV Therapy in North Phoenix, Arizona
North Phoenix’s oldest neighborhood began as a name. In 1911 architect William R. Norton platted a subdivision below the mountains, and, the story goes, one of his daughters looked at the sun on the rolling hills and said, “What a pretty, sunny slope!” Sunny Slope grew slowly: in 1919 there were only four or five cottages among the desert brush, and many newcomers lived in tent houses. In 1927 Marguerite Colley and Elizabeth Beatty opened the Desert Mission, a community center for their neighbors, and in 1931 inventor John C. Lincoln and his wife Helen moved here and became its biggest backers. About 600 people lived here by 1936, and after World War II the name became one word. Students painted the big “S” on the mountain near Central and Hatcher in December 1954, and after four failed tries at incorporating, Sunnyslope joined Phoenix in 1959.
