Mobile IV Therapy in Bowmont, Idaho
Bowmont is a small farming community in Canyon County, set among irrigated fields north of Melba and south of Nampa; the 1960 count put its population at 25. The water that makes these fields work comes from one of the first jobs taken on by the federal Reclamation Service after it was formed in 1902, the Boise Project. Work on the Deer Flat embankments began in 1906, the Lower Embankment was finished in January 1908, and the reservoir behind them, now Lake Lowell, covers about 16 square miles and stores Boise River water off the river. On February 25, 1909, shortly before leaving office, President Theodore Roosevelt made the reservoir a national bird refuge, a push led by James H. Lowell of the Payette-Boise Water Users Association, whose name the lake now carries.
